Question regarding the temporal information of cells

Hi,

Can someone explain how can two cells that are brothers in the lineage tree have different temporal information in wormbase cell summery?
E.g., the cell ABplapaaaaa appears 340 minutes after the formation of the zygote, but his brother ABplapaaaap appears 420 minutes after the formation of the zygote.
Where does this data come from and what does it actually means?

Thanks a lot.

Hi Sawyer,

The data in WormBase come from Sulston JE et al (1983) Dev Biol. “The embryonic cell lineage of the nematode C. elegans.” The timing refers to division or cell death time. These answers are found in WormBase FAQ http://www.its.caltech.edu/~wormbase/userguide/FAQ/index.html#Q12. Please write to help@wormbase.org (cc the forum) if you have further questions.

Cheers,

Raymond
