Research Assistant position at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia

An exciting new full-time position is available for a highly motivated individual to join the newly established research group of Dr Brent Neumann within the Department of Anatomy and Developmental Biology. The Neumann laboratory uses the nematode C. elegans as an experimental model system to study developmental neurobiology, with particular emphasis on the mechanisms that normally function to prevent axonal degeneration, as well as the mechanisms of axonal regeneration after injury to the nervous system. We use a combination of genetics, molecular biology, and microscopy techniques to identify the key molecules and the mechanisms regulating these fascinating biological processes.
Please visit our lab website for more information:

As the Research Assistant, you will be responsible for a range of research-related activities to support the laboratory, including the maintenance and organisation of the C. elegans collection, and ordering of equipment/reagents. In addition, you will have the opportunity to carry out your own independent research project with direct guidance from Dr Brent Neumann.

Applicants should hold a Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) with Honours in a relevant discipline. Experience with molecular biology, genetics and/or cell biology is desirable, but prior experience with C. elegans is not essential.
