Research Associate/Lab Manager – Nascone-Yoder Lab

The Nascone-Yoder lab at NCState (Raleigh, NC) is seeking a Research Associate/Lab manager to join the team.
The successful candidate will develop and perform laboratory research on left-right asymmetric organ development and birth defects (e.g., heterotaxy), using primarily Xenopus (and other animal models), and will oversee the day-to-day operations of the lab.

The Research Associate/Lab Manager will be responsible for the following:

  • molecular biology techniques (e.g., RT-PCR, design and preparation of plasmids)
  • in vitro fertilization/breeding and embryo culture – microdissection
  • microinjection (e.g., morpholino oligonucleotides, CRISPR/Cas or mRNA reagents)
  • RNA in situ hybridization
  • cryosections/immunohistochemistry
  • purchasing
  • equipment maintenance
  • environmental health and safety (EHS) compliance, documentation, inspections
  • IRB and IACUC documentation
  • supervision and training of junior lab members

The research associate will also

  • assist in the development of research projects and hypotheses
  • analyze, interpret and evaluate data -process images and compile figures and text for publication and grant submissions
  • facilitate collaboration across disciplines (e.g., with computational modelers)

Anticipated Hiring Range $55,000 - $65,000 (commensurate with education & experience)
