The Nascone-Yoder lab at NCState (Raleigh, NC) is seeking a Research Associate/Lab manager to join the team.
The successful candidate will develop and perform laboratory research on left-right asymmetric organ development and birth defects (e.g., heterotaxy), using primarily Xenopus (and other animal models), and will oversee the day-to-day operations of the lab.
The Research Associate/Lab Manager will be responsible for the following:
- molecular biology techniques (e.g., RT-PCR, design and preparation of plasmids)
- in vitro fertilization/breeding and embryo culture – microdissection
- microinjection (e.g., morpholino oligonucleotides, CRISPR/Cas or mRNA reagents)
- RNA in situ hybridization
- cryosections/immunohistochemistry
- purchasing
- equipment maintenance
- environmental health and safety (EHS) compliance, documentation, inspections
- IRB and IACUC documentation
- supervision and training of junior lab members
The research associate will also
- assist in the development of research projects and hypotheses
- analyze, interpret and evaluate data -process images and compile figures and text for publication and grant submissions
- facilitate collaboration across disciplines (e.g., with computational modelers)
Anticipated Hiring Range $55,000 - $65,000 (commensurate with education & experience)
