Large-scale gene expression studies in C. elegans

A Senior Research Technician position is available immediately to work on a Wellcome Trust-funded project designed to investigate gene expression patterns in C. elegans on a large-scale. The technician will be responsible for developing enabling methodologies for the high-throughput generation of recombineering-generated (Dolphin & Hope [2006] NAR 34:e72), fosmid-derived, multiply-labeled fluorescent protein fusion reporter constructs that will be required for these studies.
Candidates with significant previous experience in molecular biology techniques, particularly in the cloning and manipulation of plasmid, fosmid or BAC DNA clones, are invited to apply. Good organizational skills and the ability to work independently are necessary and practical experience with robotic liquid-handling systems is desirable.
This post is available immediately and is funded for 36 months.
The initial salary will be at technical grade 5 currently ranging from £24,779 - £27,295 per annum inclusive of £2,456 London Allowance.
The College is currently undergoing a Pay and Modernisation exercise. As a result, the grade at which this post has been advertised will be reviewed as will the salary payable for this post . The salary review gives no commitment to a salary increase.
