Description
The Department of Bioinformatics and Molecular Genetics (Prof. Dr. Ralf Baumeister) seeks a motivated and creative researcher and teacher with expertise in genetics and molecular biology, preferably with C. elegans experience. Tasks will be:

Opportunity to contribute and/or develop an own research program, if possible in an area compatible with the research focus of the faculty or department (integrative biological signaling, stress biology, aging, synthetic biology, biomedical research).

Collaboration in teaching; teaching obligation 4 SWS (B.Sc. M.Sc. Biology, as well as Biology for Students of Medicine" (German and English)

Writing of research proposals and acquisition of research funds to support your own research
Prerequisites are:
-
Completed university studies in biology, biochemistry, medicine or related subjects and a qualified doctorate.

teaching and research experience in cell biology, biochemistry, microbiology, genetics, and/or human biology is expected. Experience with the model organism Caenorhabditis elegans is desired.

A high level of commitment, independence, team spirit and leadership skills to obtain the qualification to become a professor (German “Habilitation”) is actively encouraged and supported.
The position is initially limited to 3 years, but is typically extended for another 3 years.
Remuneration will be according to A13 (Beamtenstelle auf Zeit, Temporary civil servant position, this is significantly more than a postdoc position!).
Our department provides an interdisciplinary environment and hosts researchers of several countries. Lab language is English. We are affiliated with two SFB/CRC research consortia (tumor biology, protein dynamics) and two Graduate Schools in Biomedicine. The group belongs to both the Faculty of Biology (Institute of Biology III) and the Faculty of Medicine (ZBMZ –Center for Biochemistry and Molecular Cell Research). Lab members have access to facilities and grant opportunities of both faculties. The lab is also involved in the University programs (BIOSS, CIBSS) funded by the German excellence initiative. The successful candidate will receive the benefits of a governmental officer (A13Z).
