Starvation conditioning and Behaviour

Hello,

I am trying to condition worms on a NGM plate with no food. I need to recover them after an hour or 3-4 hours to do chemotaxis behavior, but many worms leave the agar and climb the sides of the plate. Many papers mention they do this but do not mention how to prevent leaving. If any of you guys have experience with starvation on plates and behavior, could you please tell me ways to manage this?

[Since I am doing chemotaxis assays, I dont think I can use chemicals as a way to keep the worms on the agar as it might affect the assay.]

If you cannot use any chemical then the only way is to increase the number of worms so that at the end you will still have enough worms for your assay.
