I am thinking of using the transcription activator-like effector nucleases (TALENs) method to make small deletion alleles of a few C. elegans genes, as shown by Barbara Meyer’s lab - PMID: 21700836.
Has anyone else tried this method and do you have any comments about success frequency, any tips etc.?
TALENs is new method convenient for gene manipulation. As so many mutant strains and the whole RNAi library are available, how about the prospect of TALENs in C.elegans?
i haven’t tried it myself, but i know various groups have given it a shot and been met with frustration. but maybe the meyer lab has further refined the procedure so it is easier for others to get it to work. you could try contacting them directly…
