Our multi-disciplinary research group is studying how external and internal signals modulate neural circuit activity to drive distinct behavior states in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. We use optogenetics, calcium imaging, and neurotransmitter signaling mutants to understand how neural circuits control animal reproductive behaviors.

The ideal candidate must have a B.A. or B.S. in Biology or related field, strong organizational skills, and prior training in genetics and molecular biology. Responsibilities include lab organization, preparation of shared reagents and media, and an independent research project. Prior experience with C. elegans is not essential, but familiarity with data analysis packages (FileMaker Pro, Excel, Prism, MATLAB, or JMP) is an asset.
