Tenure-Track Physiologist at Ohio Univeristy

The Department of Biological Sciences at Ohio University (Biological Sciences Department | Ohio University) invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track physiologist position at the rank of Assistant Professor with an expected start date of August 2024.

We are interested in candidates who use integrative approaches (experimental, comparative, -omics, or computational) in the widely defined field of physiology, including but not limited to energetics, hormonal regulation, behavior, neurophysiology, aging, immune function, microbiomes, toxicology or ecophysiology. We particularly encourage candidates whose research program emphasizes basic science, as opposed to solely clinically relevant or translational research.

Candidates will be expected to establish an innovative, extramurally funded research program. We seek applicants whose research interests complement and extend our departmental strengths in cellular and molecular biology, physiology, neuroscience, evolutionary biology, and ecology, and who can collaborate with faculty in a broad-based biology department. Faculty members in the department teach and mentor undergraduate, M.S., and Ph.D. students. Teaching will include an upper-level undergraduate course in physiology and two additional courses that fill departmental teaching needs and are consistent with the candidate’s expertise.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement Ohio University is committed to creating a respectful and inclusive educational and workplace environment. We seek candidates who demonstrate an understanding of barriers to equitable outcomes in STEM fields and a commitment to promote diversity and inclusion through research, teaching, and/or public engagement.

Review of applications will commence on Nov 24, 2023.
