Hi, can anyone let me know which tool to use for drawing a worm nicely?
Thanks.
Kim
It completely depends on what you’re trying to do. I usually find the limited drawing tools of PowerPoint adequate for making the sorts of diagrams I want. Journal publishers sometimes insist that drawings be made in Illustrator. And if you want something a heck of a lot more intricate and detailed, you might try the resources Chris Grove put together for his Virtual Worm project.
Kim,
If you want to have more drawing choices than those in Office, and you don’t want to buy Illustrator…
There are two free ware programs that work well (though with fewer bells and whistles than Photoshop or Illustrator).
For simple drawings - NIH ImageJ: http://imagej.nih.gov/ij/
For svg (graphic) drawings- Inkscape: http://www.inkscape.org/en/
This is what I have available to my undergraduate students and they find both quite workable.

Thank you very much for letting me know these free programs!
