tph-1 mutant GR1321 spider's web pattens on agar

In an old batch of mutant (GR1321, tph-1) NGM plate photographs I came across one that has an unusual spider’s web pattern with worms lining up lengthways to form the strands of the web.

This has occurred just once on an old plate. Has anyone else seen this, normally I just see mounds of worms on starved plates?

Unfortunately, I haven’t yet cracked the riddle of how to upload pictures, keep getting an error message cannot find path…but could send it via email if anyone’s interested.

Hmm, I think the insert image function actually requires you to upload your picture to an external website and link it back. Try uploading it to http://imgur.com/ and share it with us

OK (thanks Snug).

Hiya Steve,

Yeah, I usually get small clumps of worms on starved plates but I’ve seen this spiderwebbing happen before too. If you use a pick to try and pick up the worms it is kinda stringy. I’m not sure what causes it.

One observation I recall was that these tracks were where the worms were laying eggs and like C these tracks were ‘sticky’.

Later the new L1 worms seemed to cluster around these tracks and slowly the tracks became thicker.

I see the same thing occasionally. Maybe it’s just cuticles of dead worms that are stuck together??

Probably a subtle food variant. I’ve seen this a number of times with various strains.
